Autumn Trees - Landscape

A highly coloured painting of red and orange hues. A still but sunny Autumn morning; woodland colours reflecting in to a smoothly flowing stream.

Harvesting the Hay - Figurative

This painting after Dupre was originally painted around 1881. Dupre’s hay painting series show glamorously beautiful women in colourful clothes vigorously heaving hay off the ground, with both forks and rakes.

Black Cat - Cat Portrait

One for the cat lovers, a portrait of a beautiful black cat just right for this time of year. Is she a witches cat? I think possibly so!

NEWS

A warm welcome to all my valued customers. I'm pleased that my newly designed new paintings notification/newsletter has had such a positive response and thank you to everyone. I hope it will be of continued interest in the future in this new format.

Now that we are into "The Season of Mist and Mellow fruitfulness" I have been keen to work on some Autumnal themed paintings. Autumn is a truly spectacular time of year as the richness of colour dominates the countryside inspiring many artists to have put brush to canvas over the years. In contrast, my recent holiday has provided me with some useful ideas for future paintings in the new year, having filled a sketch book with some fantastic Devon sea views and quaint village scenes.

Above: Picking Apples

I have continued my research into the miniature painters of times gone by and been absolutely fascinated as I have delved more deeply in to the history and techniques of creating illuminated manuscripts. The precursor to miniature painting as we know it today.

COMING SOON

Although very busy at the moment, I am hopefully going to continue my research into the history of miniature paintings and artists. I shall be moving on to study 16th century art. Tudor times is a particular favourite historical period for me and hopefully I shall have time to carry out some paintings that reflect this.

Right: Henry VIII

I hope to share my research in some format in the future.

COMMISSIONS

Thank you to everyone who has commissioned paintings these last few weeks. I working hard to complete them now that I am back and all refreshed from my holiday.

A particular favourite commission just recently was a large full length portrait of Scarlett O'Hara.
