LATEST ADDITIONS

Tristram Shandy after George Stubbs

A 1/24 or 1/2" scale painting. George Stubbs was born in 1724 and is perhaps the most important sporting artist of all time. Stubbs made his name through his remarkable capacity to portray the anatomy, muscle structure and movement of the horse. He once rented a cottage in a village some 4 miles from me, in around 1754

A Mermaid - after John William Waterhouse

John Waterhouse 1849-1917 is one of my favourite artists. He was an English Pre-Raphaelite painter most famous for his paintings of female characters from mythology and literature.
This painting depicts a mermaid sitting on a rocky sea shore combing her long her. The blue and green colours of this painting are particularly rich and is one of my favourites.

Just Sleeping - Cat Portrait

Complete relaxation!

A portrait of a cat hanging out his basket, cuddled into a soft spring green blanket, oblivious to the word around him.

NEWS

Now that 2009 has come around, may I take this opportunity to wish all my customers (all be it a little belated):

A VERY HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR!

The new year always seem to bring new changes, challenges and feelings of a fresh start.

I was very proud that two images of my paintings have been published in the magazine "Dolls house and Miniature Scene" - February issue 176, along side images from many fine artisans as part of the "A Study in Red" gallery by Martha Puff.
Thank you Martha for including me.

I have been delighted to donate one of my paintings to help raise funds for the Breast Cancer Campaign. It will be sold at the THAME DOLLS HOUSE & MINIATURES FAIR on 21st FEBRUARY 2009 at THAME LEISURE CENTRE, OXFORDSHIRE. I hope some of you will be able to call in and support such an important event in the miniature calendar.

COMING SOON

Hopefully my research into the history of miniature paintings and artists will progress on now that I have got over the Christmas period. It is so enjoyable exploring different time periods of history, concentrating on key artists and art movements of the time.

With Spring just around the corner, this beautiful time of year will hopefully provide plenty of painting subjects in the coming weeks.

COMMISSIONS

My first commission to work on in 2009 was a very tiny (just 1.5 cm's tall) portrait of the cartoon character Olive Oyl, a very interesting painting for me to undertake and quite a departure for the normal request.

It certainly has been a light hearted and fun start to the new year.

Right: Olive Oyl

I am continuing to supply paintings in several miniature scales.
